Swim Lessons will begin again in March 2012! Registration begins February 1, 2012!

2012 Lesson Schedule

We offer swim lessons to children and adults of all ages and abilities.

SwimLessons3

Swimming Lessons are offered March through August. Taking swimming lessons can  help reduce your child’s chance of having a water based accident and  help improve your child’s swimming ability. Having good swimming skills  will build a persons self-confidence and self-esteem, just as playing a  musical instrument can. Swimming also takes practice and should be  continued at least yearly until 12 years old. Our pool is indoors and heated to a comfortable 87-88 degrees.

Our swim lessons are offered in sessions. Each session includes 8 classes.  Each class runs for 45 minutes, and have between 4 and 8 children per group. Children are grouped by age and ability based on the Red Cross  swim levels. Classes are taught by a Red Cross Certified Water Safety  Instructor with 30+ year’s experience.

The costs of 2012 swim lessons are $85 for members and $100 for non-members for 8 lessons. Please note: our program session includes more classes for a longer time period than the county pool.

Although I start teaching kids at age 4, I recommend all children ages 6 and  older to take swimming lessons continually until 12 years old. By age 6, most children have developed the muscles and coordination necessary to  swim. There is a lot involved in becoming a good swimmer. Lessons before this age are useful, but your child will likely forget most skills that are not practiced. At different ages you should expect different skills dependent on the amount of time spent swimming - not just playing in  the water.

Adult/Tot Classes: are available for infants 6 months old to toddlers that are 4 years  old. These classes are an introduction to swimming and water fun.  Classes are taught with a parent, grandparent, or older friend in the water with the child. They are to give a child a good beginning and help reduce pool related anxiety. You should not consider your infant or toddler a skilled swimmer.

Adult/Older Teen Classes are available for beginners or those just wishing to improve their  strokes and water safety. Grab a friend, set up a time and come out.
