We offer horseback riding lessons at our facility or yours.
Rountree Recreation has a beautiful riding facility with a large well lit indoor arena, a safe place for students to saddle and prepare to ride, lounges and clean bathrooms for the comfort of parents, an outdoor arena, and riding trails.
Our classes are offered to beginner and intermediate riders. While a large portion of our students are western riders we also offer English lessons. Students learn several aspects of riding and horsemanship. Students also learn to groom, saddle, lead, and care for his or her horse. Students get the opportunity to ride several horses. Our lessons are perfect for students interested in show, trail riding, future horse ownership, or just a summer of fun!
Our lessons are taught in small groups of 2 - 4 riders. Classes are 45 minutes long but sometimes do run longer. Our regular classes are offered for students 7 and older. Click the “Mom and Me Lessons” tab for more information on lessons for children 3-6 years.
All you need to participate are long pants (jeans or riding pants) and closed toe shoes. Boots with heels are highly recommended. We provide helmets and gloves for the first few lessons, but do recommend students acquire their own eventually.
Classes are currently offered all day Sunday and Monday and Wednesday afternoons.
Our instructor, Kimberly, is a qualified, certified riding instructor and focuses on teaching safe fun horsemanship. She has over 10 years teaching experience working with many different students including special needs riders.
Our horses are safe and sound and enjoy their work. They are all large ponies and small horses for the comfort of our young riders, yet care carry an adult rider with ease. We will also teach on your own horse.
We will host and attend local schooling shows. Participation is at the discretion of the student, instructor, and parents. This is not required. If a student chooses to attend he or she must have riding boots with heel and a helmet. Jeans and shirt with collar will be required. Parents will be expected to assist with the shows.
Classes are taught by Kimberly (Rountree) Whitehead.
You can call her at 404-457-9529 or email kim.rountree@gmail.com for more information.
