Meet our wonderful horses:
Wooley is an old (30 yearish) pony. He is small and easy going for younger lead line students. We are unsure of his breed or history. Wooley has cushings disease - it causes his hair to grow super long and thick year round. He has been our “greater” pony for almost 10 years, claiming the first stall as you walk into the barn.
Strey is a 16 year old POA gelding. Despite his youngish age due to his declining eye sight and arthritis causes him some problems. He is partially retired and enjoys an easy life teaching limited lessons. Strey started out as a western pleasure show horse, later learned to barrel race, and finished his competitive career as a eventing pony.
Shellie is the baby of the herd. She will turn 3 this year. She is being ridden lightly over the winter - about 10-15 minutes once a week. As spring comes she will be ridden a little more. She is half Tennessee Walking Horse and half Mustang. She is Taco’s filly.
Taco is a 7 year old Tennessee Walking Horse mare. She is one of the favorites at the barn. She is a very forward horse and loves showing off her rack. She is very responsive to her rider during lessons and looks forward to her post lesson treats.
Dazzle is a 5 year old Tennessee Walking Horse gelding. He is 5 gaited meaning he both racks and trots. He is hard working and loves to please his rider.
Sundance is a 15 year old Paint Horse gelding. Sundance came from a ranch out west, working cattle. He is one of our easiest going horses and has a “no hurry” attitude, but will get up and go with some encouragement.
